A New Oak is Planted at Ravenswood Manor Park!

The Horner Park Advisory Council (HPAC) and the Ravenswood Manor Improvement Association (RMIA) would like to thank all who came out this past Saturday, October 1 to plant a new tree
on the parkway at Ravenswood Manor Park, and help prepare the park for winter.
More than 30 people showed up to plant a new Heritage Oak near the Wilson alley on Manor, and engage in other important stewardship activities such as mulching all the trees, picking up litter, and rebuilding the branch fence at the native garden on Eastwood.
Special thanks goes to the City's Department of Forestry, for providing the 6 new trees that now surround the park. 4 Lindens were planted 3 weeks ago on Francisco, and another Heritage Oak was planted near the northpoint of the park earlier this past week. Neighbors came out to plant the last Oak on Saturday.
Special thanks also to Treekeepers Theresa Hicks and Debbie Solomon for their expertise on the planting of the tree.
The Horner Park Advisory Council will be providing nearly $2,000 to the City for the 6 new trees.
Thanks again to all who contributed to the tree fund, including more than 20 neighbors, Alderman Mell, and the Openlands Project. Donations to the tree and park maintenance fund are still being accepted. Go to www.hornerpark.org to learn how you can make a tax-deductible contribution. All donors will be acknowleged on the Horner Park website.
